Aspex’s Accelera family of HD video compression solutions are “plug-and-play” accelerators to boost encoding productivity by harnessing the power of Aspex’s ultra-high performance Linedancer Extreme Processors on a standard PCI-X or PCI Express plug-in card. Accelera cards deliver high quality, faster-than-realtime HD video compression.
Aspex programmable encoders are developed exploiting the programmability of the Linedancer family of chips, which enables different code to be run seamlessly onto the parallel architecture. This means that multiple codecs, such as MPEG-2, H.264 and VC-1, can receive an instant boost in encoding performance by uplifting the most demanding tasks, e.g. motion estimation, and running them on the Accelera boards.
The encoders have been developed in partnership with MainConcept, a leading provider of MPEG-2 and H.264 software codecs. The Accelera solution accelerates these widely-used APIs to provide transparent acceleration of many popular applications such as Sorenson Squeeze, Digital Rapids StreamZ, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.
Aspex Advanced Video Encoder (AVE) framework is a “Plug and Play” solution which accelerates the
time-consuming HD video compression task inside leading these applications bringing affordable, high
quality High Definition video compression to the desktop.
The flexible nature of the AVE framework enables customers to run MPEG-2, H.264, VC-1 or
other encoders on the same platform, providing a future proof, multi-codec acceleration
solution. The platform is format and resolution independent, providing high quality, low bit rate
encoding.

The Accelera family of programmable encoder accelerators include:
- Accelera 3000 - PCI-X card with up to 1GB of high speed synchronous DDR DRAM memory.
- Accelera 3500 - PCI-Express card with 1GB of DDR DRAM memory.
- Accelera 2000 - PCI-X card with 512MB of DDR DRAM memory.
- Accelera 2500 - PCI-Express card with 512MB of DDR DRAM memory.
