Aspex Update: January 2007 |
|
Aspex accelerates award-winning H.264 Encoder MainConcept's H.264 Encoder has won this year's MSU Codec Comparison round.
And how about speed? Well, thanks to Aspex's Advanced Video Encoder (AVE), you don't have to sacrifice quality for speed. By accelerating the award-winning video compression API from MainConcept, the Aspex solution provides “plug-and-play” acceleration of many standard video compression applications (such as Sorenson Squeeze, Bluefish Symmetry, Digital Rapids StreamZ and Adobe Premiere Pro) without making any changes to encoding settings, or having new user interfaces to learn. ![]() (Image courtesy of MSU compression project - acceleration graphics by Aspex Semiconductor Ltd) Aspex AVE supports all profiles, resolutions and
bitrates supported by the MainConcept API, allowing a 4x improvement in
encoding speeds* in a variety of
applications. AVE already supports MPEG-2 and H.264 on
the same software-programmable platform, with VC-1 coming soon,
and the possibility to add new codecs in the
future, such as Flash/VP6, DNxHD, J2K, etc.
* encoding speed
depends on host system performance and encoding parameters. This figure
represents average H.264 acceleration for standard HDTV settings
on supported systems. |
