The Accelera cards are high performance image processing platforms based on Aspex Linedancer Extreme Processors.
Accelera 3000 - PCI-X card with up to 1GB of high speed synchronous DDR DRAM memory.
Accelera 3500 - PCI-Express card with 1GB of DDR DRAM memory.
Accelera 2000 - PCI-X card with 512MB of DDR DRAM memory.
Accelera 2500 - PCI-Express card with 512MB of DDR DRAM memory.
Each Linedancer chip contains a 32-bit RISC CPU and an array of 4,096 parallel processing elements, together with 1MB of on-chip memory and an advanced 2D/3D DMA engine. A single device can deliver more than 200 billion operations per second, more than 3X the performance of a 1GHz DSP.
Linedancer processors are precision-independent and fully software programmable, for the ultimate in flexibility and performance.
With four Linedancer chips, the Accelera platform harnesses the power of 16,384 software programmable processing elements, all working in parallel to make light work of processor-intensive video compression tasks, such as motion estimation, and intra mode selection.
Providing more than 800 billion operations per second, the platform allows implementation of complex, high quality encoding algorithms to achieve the lowest possible bitrates.
Futureproof, software defined solution
Unlike fixed-function hardware encoders, Aspex’s Linedancer processors are resolution-independent and 100% software-programmable, creating a unique acceleration platform which can instantly switch between multiple different encoding standards with an upgrade path for acceleration of future HD encoding standards.
The software-defined platform also supports customisation and ongoing optimisation of the compression algorithms, giving you a roadmap for performance and quality/bitrate improvements over time, with a straightforward software download.
Video I/O
When combined with video I/O cards, the Accelera platforms provide high quality, real time streaming of HD video compression for all high definition video formats. The compressed streams can be stored to disk, streamed across a network, or used as a native format for video editing and post-production.
The flexibility of the platforms allow the I/O and Accelera cards to be used separately, supporting existing workflows where uncompressed video is captured directly to disk, edited, and then exported in an HD format for broadcast, or saved to hard disk archive.
Additional workflow tasks
As the Accelera platforms are 100% software-programmable, software developers can add further value by accelerating other applications in the post production workflow, such as special effects or colour correction, where complex processor intensive image processing is required. |
