Aspex is a
Fabless Semiconductor
company that specialises
in technology for
encoding/compression of
HD video. We supply our
own chips to customers,
we license our IP and we
supply design services -
offering a complete
route to silicon for
customers requiring the
highest video quality,
support for multiple
standard codecs and the
most flexible
user-programming
environment.
Aspex introduces the Q IP
block, incorporating its
8th generation processing
architecture, developed to
offer studio-quality
encoding of HD video.
Digital video is finding
its way onto an increasing
variety of fixed and
portable devices, from
phones and iPods, PVRs and
laptops, through to the
latest Blu-Ray and HD-DVD
recorders, with shipments
of video processing chips
forecast to reach 1.6
billion units by
2011.
As each video-enabled
device has its own
limitations on screen
resolution, bitrate and
video codec support,
digital media streams
frequently need to be
converted, or
"transcoded", to a
different resolution,
bitrate or codec, to
ensure compatibility with
the viewing device.
Aspex's Q
IP block delivers
the highest
flexibility to allow
video encoding in a
variety of devices and
applications. Q supports
all the latest codecs
(including H.264/AVC and
MPEG2/MPEG4), at wide
range of resolutions and
bitrates. -
